Position Overview:
We are seeking a full time Family Medicine Faculty member who has experience in Obstetrics, to contribute to both patient care and resident education, supporting Southern Illinois University (SIU). Located at our Alton, IL Health Center, this role will provide high-quality, patient-centered care in an outpatient setting, working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals. Involving a combination of clinical and academic responsibilities, with a focus on training and supervising residents in the full scope of family medicine, including obstetrics. This position requires a clinician who shares our values and mission, committed to delivering care that addresses the whole person and contributes to improved health outcomes.
As part of our commitment to patient-centered care, the clinician will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide continuous care and contribute to the overall wellness of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct clinical services, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals and families in an outpatient setting.
- Collaborate with primary care providers, SIU faculty, and other healthcare professionals including BJC Alton Memorial.
- Supervise and mentor family medicine residents in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Participate in 3-4 half day clinical sessions per week, providing direct patient care and resident supervision.
- Participate in the education and training of family medicine residents by providing direct supervision during outpatient rotations, including OB.
- Participate in academic activities, including didactics, meetings, curriculum development and advising including one-half day didactic teaching and 3 half-days dedicated to scholarly work.
- Provide coverage for FM inpatient services managing hospitalized patients at least 8 times per year.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, adhering to all legal and regulatory standards.
- Ensure high levels of proficiency within scope, following the expectations of the Patient-Centered Medical Home model.
Job Requirements
- Illinois Medical license or eligibility for licensure in the state of Illinois.
- 2+ years of experience in obstetrics required. • Board Certification in Family Medicine, or Board Eligibility
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
- Knowledge of the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model and a commitment to its principles.
- Fluency in English and Spanish preferred, not required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and legal guidelines in clinical practice.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
