Overview

The Physician, Family Medicine provides primary health care services, emphasizing the prevention and treatment of disease. S/he is a licensed professional prepared in a specialty residency program who manages actual and potential health problems based on the area of specialty. The health conditions include common, complex and/or advanced diseases needing intensive medical supervision of the prescribed treatment plan. S/he practices independently and, as needed, collaborates with nurse practitioners or supervises physician assistants, and other health care providers. S/he is ultimately responsible for the delivery of medical care within the legal parameters established by the Illinois Medical Practice Act
