Overview

This position is with a Federally Qualified Health Center in Galesburg, IL. We serve patients of all ages, backgrounds, and income levels. Our integrated approach includes primary care, behavioral health, outreach, and more- rooted in compassion, dignity, and public health best practices.

Position Summary:

As Chief Medical Officer, you will oversee the clinical operations of the Health Center, lead quality improvement efforts, and supervise medical and nursing staff. You will be responsible for shaping and upholding clinical standards, mentoring providers, optimizing service delivery, and ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal guidelines. The CMO also serves as a practicing provider.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct clinical care within the scope of credentialing and departmental capacity
  2. Supervise clinical programs and provide leadership to medical and nursing staff
  3. Develop, implement, and monitor clinical performance measures
  4. Oversee and direct the Quality Assurance and Improvement program
  5. Guide policy and protocol development; ensure compliance with state and federal standards
  6. Educate and evaluate staff clinical skills and promote professional growth
  7. Manage provider schedules, on-call rotations, and hospital referrals
  8. Serve as a clinical advisor to the Chief Operating Officer on staffing, efficiency, and systems
  9. Represent the Health Center with external organizations, community partners, and peers
  10. Participate in staff meetings, conferences, and peer review processes

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO) and completion of an accredited residency program
  • Board certification in primary care or related specialty
  • Current Illinois medical license and DEA registration
  • Experience in clinical leadership; knowledge of NP/PA supervision requirements in Illinois
  • Half-Time (In-Person)
